The Compost Connection will compost food waste generated in Sheffield into a high quality living compost that actively benefits the Soil Food Web (find our more here).

Slow aerobic composting allows fungi and other beneficial microorganisms to flourish and provide the necessary means for an active living soil to develop and ensure plants can take up nutrients.

By preventing food waste from being incinerated or processed through an anaerobic digestion plant (both processes which generate harmful greenhouse gasses), or even sent to land fill, we can both reduce harmful emissions and produce a beautiful compost which is key to good soil health, which is essential to reducing our climate impact.

As well as being an environmentally beneficial business, the Compost Connection will aim to more widely benefit the local community by operating in accordance with the B Corp Standards including Articles of Association which require the business to act in the best interests of all stakeholders including the local community and the environment, and not just shareholders.
